About Our Building
The Nicolin Opera House was built around 1876 by Frank Nicolin, Sr. Over the years, it was host to masked balls, oyster suppers, wedding receptions, plays, and other community gatherings. Nicolin came to the U.S. from Germany in 1857 and settled in Jordan, Minnesota. He became known as one of the most prolific community builders in the Minnesota River valley.
The building is on the National Register of Historic Places in Jordan’s historic district.
